The Directorate of Policy, Planning and Research is the hub of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. It is responsible for the development and review of policies, planning and budgeting, conduct research on trade related matters and programme coordination to enhance private sector investment, industrial and economic growth.
The key responsibilities and functions of the Directorate of Policy, Planning and Research
Provide Technical Support in the development of Trade and Industry related programmes and activities that facilitates the creation of new policies and review existing ones to keep them updated for the dynamic use of the sector.
Coordinate and collaborate with other key stakeholders on improving the business environment.
Lead in research and analysis of policies and strategic issues to provide substantial data analytics support for policy implementation.
Ensure that policies and programmes from the Ministry's goal and objectives are clearly defined with clear implementation milestone and timelines.
Collaborate with all Directorates in creating public awareness of all MTI's policies.
Responsible for the coordination and preparation of Annual Work Programmes of the Ministry.
Monitor the targets of policies and programmes in line with the Ministry's goals and objectives.
Responsible for the designing and application of monitoring and evaluation systems for purposes of assessing the sector's operational effectiveness.
Conduct research on trade and trade related programmes.
