The Honourable Minister provides overall political leadership, strategic direction, and policy
oversight for the Ministry. The Minister engages with stakeholders at national, regional, and
international levels to champion Sierra Leone's trade and industrial interests.
Mrs. Fatmata Kamara supports the Minister in supervising ministerial functions and spearheading
specialized programs across trade, industry, and entrepreneurship sectors.
The Chief Director serves as the principal technical and administrative advisor to the Minister
and oversees the operations of the Ministry's technical directorates, ensuring that programs and
policies align with national priorities.
The Chief Director oversees the following Units:
Directorate of Export Promotion and Regional Integration
Focuses on enhancing Sierra Leone's exports and aligning national trade practices with
regional frameworks such as ECOWAS and AfCFTA.
Directorate of Entrepreneurial and Industrial Development
Drives initiatives that support entrepreneurship, industrialization, and the growth of
small and medium enterprises.
Directorate of Standards and Compliance
Ensures that trade practices adhere to both national regulations and international standards,
promoting quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Directorate of Policy, Planning and Research
Conducts research, policy formulation, and strategic planning to inform decision-making and
sectoral development.
The Permanent Secretary is the administrative head, responsible for the coordination of ministerial
units and internal processes. This role ensures the effective implementation of government policies
and the proper management of resources and personnel.
