PRODUCE MONITORING BOARD

The Produce Monitoring Board (PMB) is a regulatory institution. PMB’s main focus and consideration is the quality control role involving assurance of produce standardization, export of high-quality produce and enforcement of regulations in the produce sector. In its schemes, PMB shall not engage in direct production, buying and marketing of produce. Hence, its marketing and production functions are of lesser focus.

National Consumer Protection Commission

SIERRA LEONE STANDARDS BUREAU

Sierra Leone Standards Bureau is an Agency of Government responsible for developing, publishing, and promoting standards in the country.
It does execute its mandates through standardization, metrology and conformity assessment activities. Some of these activities are testing, inspection and certification. These activities make sure that products or goods and services produced in Sierra Leone whether for local consumption or for export are safe, reliable and are of good quality.

SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

The Sierra Leone Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency is a government entity established under the SMEDA Act No.11 of 2016. The Act was developed through a stakeholder’s consultation and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Bank of Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to fine-tune the SME policy and strategy that was developed in 2014.

SIERRA LEONE PRODUCE MARKETING COMPANY

The Sierra Leone Produce Marketing Company Limited was established by the Government of Sierra Leone to follow the various regulations about the buying and exporting of produce. It operates as a company seeking to maximize shareholder value, whilst taking into account the interest of all stakeholders within the agricultural supply chain. A main focus of SLPMC is the smallholder farmer, who in the past has been denied access to high value markets, high quality supply and education. SLPMC understands that it can only be successful in sourcing high quality produce by building long term relationships with its suppliers and customers alike. SLPMC stimulates a long-term sustainability by linking the farmer in Sierra Leone to markets with highly competitive products.
